I’m proud to announce the release of Robert Bloch: An Unconventional Bibliography--the most comprehensive documentation of Bloch’s vast oeuvre: novels, collections, radio, film, television, non-fiction, fanzine contributions…and more to date. Note: This is not a biography.
Full disclosure: So that a potential reader doesn't feel misled, I need to dispel any assumption that this is a typical academic bibliography. It is not. While the publication history for Bloch's works is here, it is primarily the format in which said information is presented that differs from a conventional bibliography. Thus, unconventional.
Additionally, the book contains four appendices, which::
- Document original foreign editions of Bloch story collections
- Examine the origins of PSYCHO, both novel and film
- Examine Bloch's body of work involving H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos
- Provide a critical analysis tracing the progression of Bloch’s fictional protagonists prior to PSYCHO that eventually led to his ultimate anti-hero, Norman Bates.
And, unlike other bibliographies, Unconventional additionally contains Bloch's observations and remembrances on a great many of his works.
